My pops and I made this “car camping” setup for my Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and we can make one for your RAV4 too!
Before we go too far – let it be know – I don’t like referring to this as a “car camping” setup because its really so much more than that… The amount of day-to-day functionality you gain is insane! I like to refer to this setup as a “Sleep & Storage Solution”. Checkitout –
It’s a three piece system…
The first piece is the piece in the cargo area behind the second row. This platform with provides amble storage that is completely hidden from prying eyes. I typically keep a plastic tote, stove, table, two chairs, and multiple other little things back here and you wouldn’t even know if it you were to look in the window.
Second piece goes over the second row. Fold the seats down and just lay the piece on the seat backs. This now provides you even more hidden storage but also a flat 63″ (5’3″) surface to sleep on!
Last piece is the fold out extension. When installed and fully extended, the platform measures 78″(6’6″) long and 48″(4′) at it’s widest. Perfect for a 6’3″ dude like myself. Two can make it work – just depends on how much you like each other lol…
